6/7/23 – Paris, France

Today started early. We located a laundromat and headed over to get our clothes clean. While they washed we found a spot to have coffee and I read more of my book! Once laundry was done we took the car for our second errand – buying a new flat iron with French electrical. Nick dropped me at Printemps at Blvd Haussman and he was taking the car back to Gare du Nord then would metro back to meet me for sightseeing!

Could this be Nicks next Commodores Ball suit?
Nick wanted to show me this famous and important Catholic Church Le Madeleine.

We stopped at a small spot to grab lunch and Nick talked to the waiter about Fauchon which was next to this cafe that was a specialty gourmet shop. The waiter said it was closed due to the pandemic. How very sad.

Happy to take the metro!

The dogs of Paris! This is near the Seine.

We decided to do a touristy boat ride on the Seine River.

Ironically this bridge is named Pont Neuf which means New Bridge. It’s the oldest bridge in Paris.

The Louve Museum as we know it today began as a smaller palace started by King Francis I in 1546 but it is said that he built it upon a fortress where prior kings lived.

And here come Notre Dame!

Notre Dame was built by Pope Alexander III in 1163. There was a fire that destroyed a large portion that occurred on April 15, 2019. Luckily no one died in the fire and they are actively still rebuilding it as we saw. Most of the scaffolding we saw was in the back of the iconic cathedral.

Did you know that the Eiffel Tower was originally red at the bottom and yellow towards the top? If you search you can still see the red peaking through!

We found the Canadian Embassy and it’s a pub!!! Great happy hour with very friendly bartenders and staff!

After more walking near construction I finally asked Nick “What is all this about?” He said he read that they are building what amounts to a trolley car in Paris! I wonder how that will work?

Best pizza in Paris!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
