Day 233 @ The Moorings at Carrabelle, Carrabelle, FL – The Great Loop Boat Trip

11/17/19

This morning we got up and adjusted fenders and lines and watched our friends on Honey Badger head out! They are going out to anchor for the night.

I decided to take a walk. I walked the entire town of Carrabelle. It isn’t very big and a lot was closed for Sunday but what I did get to see was adorable!

Then I found it! The Worlds Smallest Police station! As seen on TV! The 1980s show called “Real People” had this town and this phone booth featured on a show a while back. Here it is!

Here is some of the character and cuteness of this small fishing village.

This building housed the small museum. It was almost completely dedicated to its citizens! Here is what I mean…

This guy, Marvin – built over 100 buildings in the town because he had the only concrete block machine. I think there are about 100 buildings in the town.

Bricks from the original maker! He had a signature rounded edge that was unique and the curator was very proud to talk about – I didn’t have the heart to tell him that was common.

It was neat how the items were displayed and he encouraged me to pick things up and touch. I’m so trained not to touch it was foreign for me.

The original Smallest Police Office was in the museum. So the one I saw on the street was a fake!

Lots of hometown hero’s!

This was a great story! If you can zoom in and read it you’ll appreciate it too! Local legend has it that Tate’s Hell was created by an Indian, a pig and a man looking for a cow – – interesting that Cherokee Indians lived in this area!

For our last dinner we had spaghetti and meat sauce! Tomorrow we will be home!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
