Today was a busy day! We hitched a ride from Deb Kerrigan as she was headed to Traverse City and we needed to get to the airport to rent a car. Deb and her husband Frank have a home in Frankfort and live here in the summer. We got to the airport early. This was such a big, empty and clean airport they had room for a boat. Look carefully at the photo. Yes, that is Nick looking at its props.
This is a fancy waiting area in the airport. I had to check out the quote engraved in the mantle of this fireplace.

Traverse City is also well known for the US Coast Guard station that was established in 1946. They were recently in the news for having saved 2 Canadian kayakers in Georgian Bay Ontario. It was in early July and the kayakers were stranded and the Canadian rescue boats could not get to them and so they traveled with their aircraft for 1.5 hours to rescue them.
After getting that completed we headed in to Traverse City to find breakfast, run some errands and hit some vineyards! We met up with my old friend Julie Johnston Meentz. It was great getting to know her husband and two kids!
They will have time to head to the boat and see how we are doing this trip tomorrow morning! After we had a few items to take care of them we headed to our first vineyard.
This wall hanging is made completely out of wine corks.

It so much fun!
This is just a cool door.
This is a time lapse video from the first vineyard (Mari Vineyards) to the second vineyard (Chateau Grand Traverse Vineyard).
Made it! Or – Nailed it!
This is the first commercial winery in the Traverse area – Chateau Grand Traverse.

Then we finished our tour at Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery. Where we really loved the reds and the rosé but especially the view!

Iskenderun

We spent some time on the patio and we both were amazed at the mix of people who rotated politely to get a Snapshot in front of Lake Michigan. Just warmed my heart seeing young and old and people of all kinds enjoying the wine and the views!
Then back to the boat to change and get ready for dinner at Kerrigan North.

Found this Spartan fan relaxing on his back deck!

So of course Nick followed suit and started to chill out.

Deb was cooking up a storm! Everything she touches is delicious!!!

The sunset was stunning!

The views from their back deck is of Sleeping Bear Dunes as well! So impressed with the sunset over Lake Michigan!

Beautiful sunset!

Thank you so much for the wonderful dinner and great conversation with Deb and Frank!
Quote of the day: When I mentioned that a red wine was a bit expensive – Nick said “That’s not expensive, the fuel dock is expensive!”
