Early rising for a complete cup of coffee before we head out. We said our goodbyes to Bay Harbour Lake.

We still are not sure if we are going to Traverse City or Frankfort. The marinas don’t seem to like to let you know until the day of arrival if they have a slip available for you. No matter, we will figure it out! The scenery today was so spectacular!

This is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. It has 35 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline.

The Good Morning America show named it one of America’s most beautiful places!
It’s about 71k acres of land. The land was only named a Federal Park in 1970. Much of the land was private land transferred to the Federal Government. It was controversial at the time and many people did not want to give up their land but in return they received monies for schools and other town structure.

The water was really calm today!

Sleeping Bear Dunes is named for an Ojibwe folklore told about a mother bear left the western shore of Lake Michigan because of a fire on land. She and her two cubs swam across the lake. But mother bear reached the high bluff of the dune and did not see her cubs. She lay waiting for her two cubs that would never come because they drown. The great spirit was moved by her and created the two islands off the shore of the bluff. The winds off the lake buried the Momma Bear where she still waits for her two cubs.

As we enjoyed the serenity of the lake and the shore we saw this. What is it?
As we approached the Frankfort area we saw some gorgeous homes! Alas, none were Frank and Debs home.
Captain Nick getting the call that they have a slip for us!
Here is the approach to Frankfort!

We made it to our destination!

Once we were secure and settled into our slip I needed to stretch my sea legs. So I walked to town while Nick did some boat maintenance.

So cute and so many things to do! Nick finished up and met me at the Craft Beer place. Stormcloud Brewery!
We really enjoyed their patio! Stumbled upon this plaque – who knew!

This town was a logging and lumbering town! Now I just know it for the famous Crystal Downs Golf Course here! This Golf Course has been on the top 10 best golf courses of America for decades!

Then Frank stopped by with his son Will.
Dinner was filets mignon on the boat to celebrate our amazing adventures!
Really pretty view of Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was just made into a National Park last month (I think).
