6/15/23 – Catamaran in Croatia – Vis Island

Today was a very rough day at sea. We had 2-4 foot waves with white caps. I would not have gone out in them – not necessary. But for some reason they did. It was about 4 hours of a following sea. That means the waves are mostly behind the boat and it feels like you are on a roller coaster the whole time. Really difficult to stomach. I tried to read my book but that was tough too. Then the Captain found a calm cove to anchor and have lunch. We didn’t stay anchored long and we headed to Vis. The lighthouse was a welcome sight.

We all immediately got off the boat. Via is well known for its wine! I just want to find a cafe to relax and have a spritzer!

What is Nick doing back there?
Some of these were death notices.
We stopped here for an aperol spritz!

This is such a beautiful town! So much to see!

I am wearing my St Pete YC jacket and we got spotted by another SPYC member! His name is Chris and we are having drinks and comparing notes when we get back. We couldn’t chat because we were late for the wine tour.

This is Our Lady of Spilice. Built in the 16th century it got its name because it was built on small caves.

We had to rush because we were late for the shuttle to the winery. The road to the winery was treacherous! Made it to get our tour and tasting and fish Peka and Veal Peka.

This is how they cook the Peka.
Great wine tour!
Monk fish Peka
Veal Peka

This little guy wandered in to the restaurant and begged until he got what he wanted!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
