1/7/23 – Aix-en-Provence, France

Today we wanted to walk Aix and see the town! First stop was the Aix Cathedral. This is Romanesque and Gothic architecture. They started building this church in the 12th Century and finished in the 16th Century.

It was said to have been built on the Roman temple to Apollo.

Next we stopped at this store and bought candy that is unique to Aix. It tasted like a tough taffy but almond flavor.

When we reached this open walking area there was an open air market. It was cold but they still sold their wares! I bought some dish towels.

Next up we stopped and had cocktails and a bite for lunch!

I found this crazy sink in the bathroom.
This was a beautiful display inside the dining area.
This is a big dam!

Paul brought us here because the mountain below was a huge inspiration to Pablo Picasso.

It was acquired in September 1958 by the Spanish artist Picasso, seeking a more isolated working place than his previous home in Cannes.

This is the castle that Picasso and his wife are buried aside. It is still privately owned by his family. Chateau of Vauvenargues

Picasso and his wife loved this place. He was in Aix-en-Provence for an exhibition when he spotted the castle and bought it within a week!

We stopped for coffee and for me to use the banõ!

I went into the restaurant asking for “el banõ”. These very nice Indian people just stared at me. I could’ve just said toilet. Hahahaha

Nick likes to tell people that I keep the postcard companies in business single handedly.

Dinner was another spectacular French meal!!!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
