Day 31 – 5/25/22 – Stock Island Marina Village, Stock Island, Key West, FL

Well today is our final day to do some tourist things so we went to the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum. Mel Gusher was the treasure hunter who found the big stash of Spanish gold.

Mel Fisher started working on his dream of finding treasure when he was already in his 40s. It took only 16 years for his crew to find the mother load. I loved that he said everyday “Today is the day”.

I find it totally shocking that boats navigated this way. The people had to be pretty smart and precise.

This was one of the coolest items. Explanation-Aliens!
This was in front of the museum. It’s a raft that several Cubans used to escape the socialist dictator Castro!

I was so happy when Nick suggested we get a bit for lunch at El Meson de Pepe! Love that he enjoys Cuban food!

Our lunch time margaritas on the rocks!
Homemade tamale!
Nick got a beef and a chicken empanada.
This occupies a ton or real estate and it’s no longer used. I don’t get it.

On the way back we wanted to pick up some wine and this spot was the perfect place for wine!

I’m going to book this for our next visit!

We now have two favorite wine spots in Key West.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
