Day 30 – 5/24/22 – Stock Island Marina Village, Stock Island, Key West, FL

Well, today was the day for the sea trial. Not a great day for boating. But I figure the mechanics looked at the forecast. There was one guy in the engine room and one guy half in and half out of the engine room and that guy was on his laptop. I don’t think they were expecting the 2 – 4 foot waves.

Not too many boats on the sea today – when we headed back we saw this guy going out.

After a crazy wind, making docking the boat beyond difficult, we had to get back to the pool! Captain Nick did a superior job docking in such difficult circumstances! He deserved a cocktail and quiet time to read.

This wasn’t just a weird vehicle but it also had Guam plates. I can only image it belongs to a service member as there were several in the marina.

After relaxing we decided to have a nice evening out for dinner. We went to the Square Grouper just north on Cudjoe Key. We chose this spot because a guy on E dock named Jerry mentioned it was a great spot. Jerry was soooo right!

This place was hopping and it was a ton of locals!
I got the Cesar salad with scallops.
Nick wanted the chicken fried steak.

I wasn’t sure if Nick knew what he was ordering. It’s a very southern thing. So I gave him my explanation but he didn’t seem deterred. This was a place we must return to!!! Even Julie (a friend from the Loop) commented on Facebook about the Square Grouper restaurant.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
