Day 25 – 5/19/22 – Stock Island Marina Village, Stock Island, Key West, FL

Today we had a slow relaxing morning. We finally got our ship together and headed out.

First stop was at our Cummings Engine guys place. John was so nice to explain our engine to us. We learned that our engine never had a proper maintenance. John’s opinion was that they have just been changing the oil and filter and calling it a day. But that is just a small bit of what they needed to do – we are lucky to have John help us out with a complete maintenance! They are taking apart the Heat Exchanger, the After Cooler and Transmission Oil Coolers. Each one of these has zincs that have never been changed. But the big wow was that he said it had the factory paint on it so that means it’s never been done. I guess we need to find better Cummings guys in Tampa or take an annual trip to Key West for John and his men!

On the road to get some items we need on the boat. We found some kitchen supplies and a cool ottoman for the table. The ottoman has great storage and it will be good for that 4th person to sit more easily at the table.

Nick also found Omar the Barber. Well, I found him on Yelp and Nick drove to his address. When he walked in Omar said he could take him Tuesday – but we might be gone on Tuesday. So Omar said that he would make him handsome again if he could show up at 6 am tomorrow! Nick said ok and hopped back in the car. When he told me this I was shocked!!! Nick is going to get a haircut at 6 am! Then Nick said that Omar would be happy to start earlier if Nick got there earlier. Wow! Makes me have great respect for Omar!

On our way home I begged Nick to stop at the Sandal Outlet. So glad we did. Nick and I both got some cool shoes!!!

After all the shopping and all the stuff we had – wouldn’t ya know it all the parking by E Dock was full – including the 15 minute parking. So we got our ottoman and put it in a boater cart along with our several bags. Once we got home I organized and cleaned. My slow cooker chicken was ready just in time for 7 pm puck drop! Game 2 of the playoffs round 2 with the Panthers. The game was in Sunrise, FL so there were very few Lightning fans in the house. Nick was texting with his buddy who’s son is the assistant coach of the Panthers (MacKenzie). It was a very exciting game with some questionable calls! But Bolts won with a goal by Ross Colton with 2 seconds left to go! It broke the tie and Bolts won 2-1!!!!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
