Italy Wedding 2021 – Nice, Cimiez, St-Jean-Cap-Farrat, and Eze, France

Nice, France – Le Méridien Hotel. 9/5/21

Using our awesome location as a launch pad, we decided to do a few fun trips today. After a very delicious breakfast we headed out to see the hotel and then the Musee Matisse.

View from our patio!
Good morning Nice!
It’s a huge patio!!!!
This is the 9th floor. Well – really it’s the 10th because they count the first floor as zero.
And the sweet pool on the “9th” floor.

As we headed to the Musée Matisse we noticed the climb up the mountain to reach Cimiez was steep yet enriched in views of the Mediterranean Sea!

Nick was enjoying the walk down to the Museum from the parking spot we found.
This pigeon seems to be standing guard.
First we were confronted with some Roman ruins!
Then we came upon the front of the house however we had to enter 3 flights below it!

We made it down the several stories of stairs to the entrance and had to show our vaccine cards to get in. It wasn’t very busy so we enjoyed a leisurely walk through the short exhibition in the modest home.

A photo of a young Henri Matisse.
Matisse shared a building with Rodin in Paris. That could explain his venture into sculpture.

Many American and Russian art collectors really enjoyed Matisse so therefore much of his art is on display in those countries and not France.

These were large quilts.

In the surrounding areas of the Musée Matisse were several other awesome attractions. There were two areas of Roman Ruins that I noticed, a fabulous Catholic Church and Jardins! I could have stayed all day but Nick really wanted to have lunch overlooking the boats in St-Jean-Cap-Farrat and so who am I to argue that! We left…

On our way to St-Jean-Cap-Farrat I noticed the GPS.

This stood in the middle of a car park. Only in France!

A spectacular drive. A difficult drive for Nick but amazing views for me!

Arriving turned out to be the easiest part of the trip. Finding a parking spot was even more difficult.

The burger was totally worth it! I ate up every bit!

As I was enjoying the views of the boats. A little ladybug landed on my hand. Leave it to France to have special yellow ladybugs. This is a first for me! Ive never seen a yellow ladybug.

Then it was onward to Eze!

We had to stop by Burts place.
Such perfect views!
This is next to Burts driveway.
There’s always that moment on Burts driveway when you can’t see and you’re jus hoping you are aimed properly.

The signature sign of Eze are the beautiful rock archs!

Then it was back to Nice to freshen up and head to dinner. We decided to stay close to the hotel in the fashion / store area. Lots of places to pick from there.

Nick was on the funny for oysters.

Nick found his fin de Clair oysters and it made him very happy! Another great day on the French Rivera.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
