Day 223 @ Sandestin Baytowne Marina, Miramar Beach, Florida – The Great Loop

11/7/19

Happy Birthday Nick!

It has been very difficult for me to write this one. I got a call at 2 am from my wonderful sister in law Mindy. I didn’t answer, not because I didn’t hear it or that I didn’t grab the phone fast enough, but because I didn’t want to hear what she was calling for. I knew. My Mom passed way only 5 minutes prior to the call. The last time I was with her she asked me to help her take a cruise with us on the Aquasition. She wanted to be part of our Loop experience. She loved the idea of our boating adventure but she was also nervous for any dangers. I’m told that even just talking about our great adventures gave her happiness and a new purpose among her friends at Smith Crossings Nursing home. Luckily Tierney texted Nick and told him about a cafe called “Another Broken Egg”. He took me there for a nice breakfast on the patio.

They had a corn hole set that was very close together.

Clean plate club.

The streets are lined with trees and it’s so pretty!

We found Publix! We just needed some water and coffee. As I walked the aisles I found the coffee and started to cry!

We tried to do things but my heart wasn’t into doing anything. This was the first birthday for Nick that I hadn’t planned anything. Luckily he had planned Tierney and Dave to come out to the boat and go to dinner. We had dinner at the new Emerils Coastal Italian.

It was nice to erase my sadness, if only for a few hours. Thank you Tierney and Dave!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
