Day 209 @ Palafox Pier Yacht Harbor, Pensacola, Florida – The Great Loop Boat Trip

10/24/19

Today the Captain wanted to move the boat. There are some looming family issues and I thought it was a good idea too.

Then we came across this shrimp boat. This is where the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company was dreamed up.

This is the Alabama coast! Looks like paradise on a beach.

This is the channel. Mobile Bay is very shallow and staying in the channel is very important.

Soon enough we reached the ICW Intercoastal Waterway.

Once there the island side was so barren and the inland side was lined with restaurants, homes, and birds!

Bridges were everywhere too.

Marinas were abundant.

And this was cool. This is a tractor pulling a boat out of the water.

This was the Orange Beach area. It looked very untouched and nature driven with a few hotels sprinkled in.

And the bridges seemed to have more boat traffic than auto traffic.

This was a Marriott property.

Then we saw a guy walking around on this island and I couldn’t figure out how he got there because he had clothes on and he didn’t look wet.

Cute townhomes on the ICW.

We entered Florida and this was the sign that welcomed us.

When we reached the Pensacola Yacht Club they tied us off on the long T dock. It wasn’t what we expected and the cleats didn’t line up for us to feel like the boat was real secure so we reached out to Palafox Pier Marina and they said they’d fit us in. When we got there the Harbormaster greeted us and was awesome! This place had amazingly beautiful boats docked in there! It had a sea wall that protects them and a locked gate with a code so the public couldn’t get in. This is a perfect spot for us to leave the Aquasition and run to Chicago for another visit with Mom.

Then we walked up to the restaurant that overlooks the marina and it was fabulous! Very trendy and terrific food!

Craft cocktails!!!

Quote of the day: Back in our home state and ready for a flyover by the Blue Angels.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
