Day 205 @ Kingfisher Bay Marina, Demopolis, Alabama – The Great Loop Boat Trip

10/20/19

Sunday Football! Nick got organized right away and made sure his Red Zone worked well! I took a walk exploring and met up with Ann Marie the Dockmaster here. Ann Marie was very knowledgeable on boating in the area. She also told me to be very careful not to disturb the locals. In other words, don’t leave a wake where people won’t appreciate it. Because “Uncle Somebody might take a shot at you.” What she means is everyone knows each other in this area of Alabama and they’d back each other up with their shotgun. She also clued me in to the fact that there are alligators in these waters!

This marina has a shuttle, courtesy car and free golf cart. This place is great! The pool looked very nice and clean! There were customers at the pool! It was a pretty hot day.

After walking around for a awhile I headed back to the boat. That’s when Mimi & Me headed in to the slip right next to us. It’s a brand new 54″Maritimo. Maritimos are made in Australia and since he bought it new he had the opportunity to go to Australia and pick up the boat and test drive it. They did that for about a week! They have some great stories! Pretty soon it was time to head over to Happy Hour!

Can you find our boat? This is the view from the Happy Hour area which was on top of the office building. We also found out that this Marina was recently built – it replaced a large cotton field that was in this spot.

Lots of the new friends were Loopers and lots were boaters that enjoy this area.

What a great night! The sunset was like a painting from a nature lovers gallery! It was hard to tell which was more beautiful – the sky or the reflection of the sky in the water.

Quote of the day: Uncle Somebody is gonna take a shot at you.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
