Day 177 @ Grafton Harbor Marina, Grafton, Illinois – The Great Loop Boat Trip

9/22/19

Woke up in Robert Olivieri’s old bedroom in Frankfort Illinois. It just made me miss Robert! Getting downstairs clean and dressed, Nick informed me that our flight to St Louis was cancelled. Nick got on the phone with SWA and got our money reimbursed and contacted National Rent a Car to extend our use of the car and drop it off in St Louis later today. So we rallied and headed towards downtown Frankfort for the Farmers Market.

Such a cute Market! Live music and great fall feeling!

Then we realized that we could buy groceries because we weren’t going on a plane!

Best guys in the world.

Then breakfast at the cutest place! It was definitely the best breakfast burrito ever!

Back at Don and Mindys house we cleaned up and packed up and enjoyed one last view of his gorgeous backyard!

We decided heading south to Champagne Illinois was the best idea in order to avoid the rain and thunderstorms. We got to the St Louis Airport easily but returning the car seemed more difficult. They tried to charge us hundreds extra for the extra miles. But we had it pre approved! So we got on the phone. But it seems the only one that can fix the problem is National at Midway. It was excruciating! No one actually helped me and the car was never entered as returned. So I’m really nervous!

This is the road headed North to Grafton and the Mississippi is on our left (Port side).

We made it to the huge Looper Docktails that Susan (Lucky me looping) set up for the 30+ Loopers docked at Grafton Harbor!

Good times! A group of Loopers all organized and walked over to Abigails Restaurant after the Docktails. We got an invite and had a blast!

This is the most haunted hotel in all of Illinois! I didn’t see any ghosts!

Nick got the seafood pasta!

Such a fun crowd! The waitress stood on a chair to take this photo!

Quote of the day: Sonia is the crazy one.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
