Day 173 @ Grafton Harbor Marina, Grafton, Illinois – The Great Loop Boat Trip

9/18/19

Well this was the longest distance we’ve traveled in one day. But it wasn’t that bad! And we had spectacular weather!

Got up at 6:30 to shove off early. The morning sun on our friends boats looked so cool. I snapped these photos and posted them on the Looper FB page. Shortly after I hooked up with some of these Loopers on FB! So fun meeting new people!

The breakwall was a barge! It had rebar sticking out everywhere.

Good Morning Peoria!

This little guy really held on for a long time! I wonder if he was working out or something?!?!

We got close to several plants and locations for Mosaic – so I was thinking of my friend Corrine who was the first to tel me about the Loop. It sparked my interest and when I mentioned it to my other friend AnneMarie who had even more information on the Loop.

Then we got to downtown Peoria! It was a beautiful city from the water!

Then some pretty big factories on the water.

These are the Where’s Waldo towers! I found em!

This is a dock that looked abandoned. I think the water levels used to be much higher in this area of the Illinois River.

This view is always amazing!

We drove all day! Got to Grafton around 5:15pm.

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
