Good morning!!! Let’s do this! Goal is to reach the cute docks of Heritage Harbor in Ottawa Illinois. We got up early and enjoyed morning coffee, then Galene called us and said he’s pulling up anchor and getting to the lock! He had already called and the lockmaster said we could lock through right away! All 3 of us got there in time!

We had to navigate through some barges and bridges.

Barges and more barges.

A red caboose among RVs was totally worth jumping up and rushing to take a photo.
This is what I’m talkin about! People that just want to enjoy the water!

The river was sorta plain here and very serene.

Then Nick prepared to lock through the Marseille Lock. It was about a 40 ft drop. He looks cute with his yellow life vest!

We get into position quickly!

Another tie off situation with Dream Seeker who anchored with us!

Heritage Harbor Marina looks like a postcard!

Found a seat at the bar!

We had a fabulous dinner there and had a great time chatting up other loopers and the staff!

The talk that Jeremy the Harbormaster holds was delayed a few hours. Some of the Loopers took a long time to get through the locks and ended up driving in the dark. Unfortunately, the harbor doesn’t have lights at the entry so Jeremy and some others hopped in a boat and led them to safety. It was great seeing so many of them again and meeting new people too!

Quote of the day: I took it upon myself to call the Starved Rock Lockmaster and report that Heritage Harbor Marina had over 30 Loopers wanting to get through the next day, I got information to share with the group and one male Looper asked me but what about size of our boats, does size matter? I quickly replied “No, but I don’t think many women would agree with me!”
