Day 145 @ Private Harbor, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin – The Great Loop Boat Trip

Hello Deaths Door! Dave explained to us the origin of name “Door County”. The straights that link Green Bay with Lake Michigan in the Northern end of the County is when the names history starts. The Potawatomi Indians and the Winnebago Indians had many battles in that area as well it is a dangerous area for ships. Dave decided to take us to some of his favorite parts of Door County! It started with what he described at “one of the most photographed golf holes of all time”.

Then it was off to Sister Bay for some Fred and Fuzzy’s fun with a cherry margarita on top!

Dave liked Nick’s look for the day.

Then it was off to show them the goats on the roof. Ironically the goats were very visible when we approached in the car but by the time we got out for a photo…

We saw this driving away…

Even the goats have to go home.

Then Dave pulled over in Ephraim to show us this cool barn that doubles as an Art studio and a home for a lot of graffiti. Anderson Warehouse is on the Register of National Historic Sites and was built in 1895. It started as a place for boaters to write their boat name as they passed through this harbor but now it is something more.

Frozen Custard at Not Licked Yet.

Then it was the great hat store!!!

Some of my favorite characters were there!

Hatch Distillery is the best spot in Egg Harbor! Nick favorite thing was the great bourbon, Annette was impressed with the to go cups, and Greg said it was modern rustic.

Then Schartner’s had pies and tons of Door County flavors!

Back at the ranch…

Another great night!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
