Day 127 @ Bay Harbor Lake Marina, Petoskey, Michigan – Great Loop Boat Trip

We got a slow start to the day but a delicious one! We headed over to The Original Pancake House for breakfast! So close!

This is Dave putting syrup and sour cream on the potato pancake he took from me.

Many of us were members of the clean plate club thanks to Dave the vacuum cleaner. Then Kelly was looking for Nemo.

Kelly found Nemo!

We took the boat to Lake Charlevoix. It was a beautiful ride!

Once we arrived the bridge master opened the bridge.

Once we got in we slowly drove thru Round Lake and then reached Lake Charlevoix. Wow! It was spectacular! Such beauty and pristine! You could also see Boyne Mountain at the far end of the lake.

We found a great location and hooked to a mooring ball! Captain Nick got it on the first go round. Here are the Ryeson men watching the approach.

Everyone pitched in getting to the desired location. Nick was the first to take the plunge into the 78 degree water. Then we dropped the dinghy.

Kelly and I really bonded on the stern! She’s really interesting!

Once the dinghy came back for its inaugural run in Lake Charlevoix – we took turns!

I found my own kinda fun! Seemed like the boys weren’t interested in using this tube behind the dinghy so I made use of it!

It was a great day and very relaxing!

Captain Nick got us back into our slip in Bay Harbor Lake Marina and we all got cleaned up and ready for dinner. We hopped on the free Petoskey trolley to get to town and none other than Tom our driver was waiting for us! He gave us some great dinner spots and some fun jokes as well! Walking around Petoskey we spotted some of the cutest shops!

We took the Ryeson’s to the Ernst Hemingway Bar that haunted us from the other night.

A stop in to City Grill where we got a delicious Watermelon Sangria!

The restaurant we picked for dinner was Chandler’s in the historic Gaslight district. So we headed over just a few block from City Park Grill and behind the iconic Symons General Store.

There is a beautiful outside area in between two buildings, so it’s nicely shaded, we got a great table inside. The inside was filled with wood paneling which gave it the feel of cozy and homey. When you examined the interior further you noticed the exquisite oil paintings on the walls. They were reminiscent of European style painting but Michigan themes. Very cool!

We started the night with some great wine! A Bill Windle influence!

Our waiter that evening had a great time with Dave. His name was Big Paulie but he introduced himself as Paul. Dave discussed the Walleye dish and we soon found out there was one left. Dave asked Big Paulie to zip over to the chef and grab that last one for him! There may have been some tackle and push procedures but Paul got the dish for Dave. It was a fun night! Discussion at the dinner table led to celebrity look a likes. Kelly looks a bit like Sally Fields and Nick looks like Gary Player and Dave looks like Harrison Ford. Kelly and the boys agreed that I look like Giselle Bündchen (aka supermodel, Victoria Secret Angel and Tom Brady’s wife). I did not say it – you be the judge.

Ok – I don’t have blue eyes.

The Ryeson’s waiting for the Uber driver.

It was a great day and night! Thanks Ryeson’s!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
