Day eighty five @ New Whitehall Marina, Whitehall, NY

Well, this post is pretty late getting out because we had a pretty late night hanging out with new friends! Then our trip was so stressful I could not do anything but help and support the Captain. There was no power steering! In case you’re wondering, it’s a very necessary thing on a boat this size.

But let me go back to yesterday and give you a brief view of the day. It was a lock day. We departed beautiful Albany and our friends at Albany YC.

Then came the bridges.

It’s just a gorgeous part of the country!

We saw so many things!

We started with a Federal lock.

Then it was the state of NY Canal system locks. Locks 1 thru 12 with 10 missing. Turns out 10 was not needed so they didn’t build it but thy never renamed 11 and 12.

Another video.

We were doing most of these locks with a 38 ft sea ray from Montreal behind us (name was Unplugged).

Then a Lockmaster told us to go quickly to the next lock because other boats were waiting for us.

Then we followed “For Pete’s Sake” into and through 3 or 4 locks. When we got to lock 9 the lockmaster asked us if we were trying to get through all locks today and the back boat “unplugged” said no and I said yes and the front boat “For Pete’s Sake” said yes. So we had about 30 minutes to do a 40 minute drive. We booked it! We made it!

When I got off the boat For Pete’s Sake was docked right next to us and I went right up to them and said “I fee like we’ve bonded”. So we went and had a cocktail and dinner with them! Great couple from CT and they vacation in FL for 6 months.

We just love this place! It felt like home and they treated us like best buddies! Here is the owner Lynn.

A guy that has it all goin on! Then we got to know the whole fun crew!!!

Yes – Nick bought a round of Fireball for everyone!!!

This is Smitty!!!

Then the party continued on our boat!

Yes! Barb has an amazing voice!

Check out her songs on iTunes. Barbara Spoor!!!

Song of the day: Drops of Jupiter by Train

Quote of the day: I know I’m going to hell because I married Satans sister.

And THANK YOU NEW WHITEHALL MARINA!!! Best party night so far on this trip!!!! You all know how to have fun!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
