Day eighty four @ Albany Yacht Club, Rensselaer, NY

Such a fun time last night that I was exhausted and couldn’t stay up to create my post. What a wonderful place! We met some of the most fun people here! Yesterday was a long day, we travelled for 6 hours and covered 104 miles.

The mountains and beauty of this region really is like no other I’ve seen.

Then we came upon a pretty small island. It looked as if there was an abandoned medieval castle.

I was correct. Pollepel Island, which is also known as Bannerman’s Island. It’s just North of West Point. You can’t go to the island – not allowed. A munitions dealer from back in 1900-1918 named Frank Bannerman built the castle as a summery resort and storehouse. But the state of NY took possession in 1967 and had paid tours in the castle until it burned in 1969! In this same area is the water supply for all of NYC because the Rivers aqueduct.

The bridges and lighthouses on an island were everywhere!

Then a double bridge!

We made it in time for Rib Night at the Albany Yacht Club! Ron has told us about Rib Night at only $15 per person but he didn’t tell us about the add ons! We also got great apps and make your own Sunday!

My Meal ticket!

Isn’t he cute!?

We made friends fast! Retired teacher and principal Nancy and John! They live 6mos in Cape Coral, FL! But – not only are they boaters but the hockey – LOL!!!!! Listening to these two guys talk hockey was awesome!

We really love this place! The people were so friendly! Nick ordered an Old Fashioned (drink) and the bartender said it was gonna be her first – so along with that – Nick needed a selfie! Because you never forget your first!

Although John joked with Nick that the club is gonna use that photo for their wall and put “Old Fashion Guy” under his face! It was truly the best!!! Everyone in the place was laughing at that!

Then…. they popped up an inflatable screen and it was movie night! Popcorn, s’mores and “Weekend at Bernie’s”!!!!

So much fun! Nick found out that the bartender was actually just a member that helps out and she had two great boys that were just out of college and just got back from a 6 month trip to Cuba. You all know what that means! Nick got 8 Cuban Cigars!!! Too funny!

Just another fabulous group of people! I would love to hang out longer with them!

But onward!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
