Day forty @ The Harborage at Ashley Marina, Charleston, SC

The day started out leaving our beloved new friends at Wexford. Mark helped us through the lock and I got some pictures this time.

Mark was our first. We were virgins to it and he helped us through the lock routine.

Getting inside without hitting the sides was total skill!

That is Mark the dockmaster at Wexford Plantation Y & GC.

Perfect! The fenders were not necessary at all!

Then there was a bit of a push as the water moved in and out of the lock.

This is the outside of the lock to the South.

Great looking townhouses!

I used the nice camera for pictures while we cruised up the ICW but you won’t see them because I forgot to put the chip in it. Spectacular views tho. Then we docked at The Harborage at Ashley. It is between two bridges and awful big. Here are some photos. Nick was joking about getting an Uber to pick us up at the boat because the walk to the land was so long on the dock.

Here is the Dockmaster’s office that was about 300 yards from our spot and on the same dock.

Saw this guy go out for happy hour.

After we got settled we went out to find our own happy hour! Our first stop was Fleet Landing which our Uber driver told us was the only restaurant/pub on the water!

The decor was a combination of new and

And boating decor….

Cool flag that decorated the ceiling.

And craft beer everywhere!

So that was the best John Daly drink I’ve ever had! Next on the pub crawl was The Rooftop that the Uber driver recommended. This is where I found the machine that made Tom Hanks BIG. It had a great view of the boats and the city! And fantastic food! We shared the Chicken Nachos! So then we walk down to the 3rd pub which was recommended by Tiffany J. on FB. In between the pubs we saw some great architecture. Then we reached our next pub.

It was called 5 Church – I thought that was because it was on Church Street but it wasn’t. It’s because it was a former church.

The inside. We couldn’t stay because there was a private event.

As I walked out I stated “can you get drunk in a church?” And two Boston guys answered “of course you can, that’s where they serve wine!” So we did a loop in there and headed to another pub in the pub crawl. Henry’s!!!

It’s Charleston’s oldest bar! It’s across the street from the open air market. As I walked it I saw our two Boston friends already at the pub. We shouted hey!!!! And pulled up the barstools next to them. Turns out they are a lot of fun! Chris and Bill who work together at a beer & liquor distributor. They won a golfing trip from work and they are in SC golfing up a storm! They’ve known each other since 5th grade and I told them they were like an old married couple! Lol. Nice guys!

It was a lot of fun! Nick Galambos you are a fun guy!

We got to tell our Tom Brady stories. Everyone has a Tom Brady story…. right?

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
