We left beautiful Jekyll Island early this morning. It was quiet and serene when we left and that’s what the entire day turned out to be until we found our slips at the Westin in Savannah.
This is the marina as we rode away.
This was the first building we saw after miles of nothing.
Its was a tough day. Jeff’s Garmin was not working for him. He was getting false readings on the depth so we took the lead through what is called Hells Gate. There are so many shallow areas it was really hell! But Nick navigated it and got both boats through perfectly! It was really like a marsh area.

There was so much of nothing until this shrimp boat.
Which inspired me to sing Blue Bayou with karaoke. Nick loved it. The birds didn’t love it. Lol
I tried to give Jeff the Wikipedia info on the song Blue Bayou but he didn’t seem that interested.
It was a long day and stupid facts and music kept us focused. That’s what the VHF is for…. well maybe Jeff might not agree. As we approached the Savannah area we were coming up on a sailboat and it was our French friend from Quebec – “Destiny”. He reached out to us and moved over to let us pass. Nice people!

As we turned into the Savannah River we moved from desolate to industrial and workin boats.

The Westin didn’t reply on VHF 16 so I quickly tried their phone and they aren’t organized! They have no one that works on the docks! There is no dockmaster and no dock hands. The docks are in disrepair and the gate was locking us in! Very poor welcome! Not gonna recommend this spot for dockage! And they are on Dockwa.

After getting settled we met Michelle’s fathers old friend Jerry and his wife Geri! Then we took the River Ferry to walk the town and find dinner!

Found a great rooftop restaurant! The food was amazing! Very French!

It was fun looking at all the architecture in this town!

Tomorrow Jack will arrive! Looking forward to doing a historic tour with him!
