Day thirty two @ Amelia Island Marina, Fernandina Beach, FL

Early morning on Breakaway to help our new friends learn to blog on WordPress. Julie and Milton showed up just after their cribbage game. Michelle made us all a breakfast sandwich – all except Nick. He had a hard time getting out of bed before 10am. I guess he was over served. I have to admit – I tried Michelle’s Blue Mountain coffee from Jamica and it was amazing! Thank you Michelle!

Then we regrouped and Schrier’s went bike riding and we took an Uber to the downtown area. Goofing off downtown was fun!

Nick waiting for the Uber.

Welcome Center pirate.

Old house with something historic about it.

Me goofing off and trying to make Nick fall in the fountain for a picture. Didn’t work.

The clock tower was pretty cool.

Then we hit a couple cute shops, a bookstore and eventually found a coffee shop.

Then we crashed the Schrier’s lunch at Cafe Karibo. So after we let them off the hook and took the opposite street as them. That’s where we found this sign and quickly went back to the main drag.

We found what the Welcome Center lady told us was Florida’s first Saloon “The Palace”.

We really enjoyed talking to the bartender. It made us decide to start a second blog about the pubs we love. It’s called:

Tavernsofmylife.wordpress.com

There you’ll read a story about Uncle Charlie the first bartender of The Palace and also how the place stayed open during prohibition serving ice cream!

These are the restrooms in the bar.

This is the kind of history Nick really appreciates!

This old jukebox had Tom Petty!

Then we headed out and I found a post office and Nick found a barbershop. Since it was going to be 30 minutes to get in for a haircut we decided to get a craft beer at the closest pub.

It was a nice modern craft beer kinda place.

All I could think of was my brother Don who loves to try new craft beer spots! They brewed their stuff on site!

I got all my postcards done!

Nick likes to say I keep the postcard business going single handedly! If you want a postcard from me send me a message!

Next up we met the Schrier’s for a sunset dinner at the “best sunset spot” on the island.

Cheers!

Ok that photo doesn’t show the sunset…

Michelle tried to teach us how to use a selfie stick – energy wasted by her! Lol

Definitely a great spot! And we just loved Summer our server/bartender!

Then it was like they didn’t want us to ever leave with this sign!

Really nice spot!

Then it was our Mercedes Uber…

I have no idea why I took photos inside the Uber.

It was a fun day and this island is awesome!

Quote of the day: “Why do pirates always have peg legs?”

Google that!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
