Day twenty six@ Camachee Island Marina Village

My morning wake up was 5am on my Ring door bell. I’m not sure why this guy returned but I think I owe him money for the surveillance. So we said goodbye to Smyrna Beach Yacht Club and moved on to St. Augustine. The traveling was about 75 miles and lots of manatee and no wake areas. We first stopped for fuel and it was a very cool place with a very hard working dockhand! The New Smyrna Marina also has a restaurant with 2 happy hours and a bait and tackle store with breakfast sandwiches. Nice spot for sure!

Then it was back on track. This was in Palm Coast area.

Daytona was busy with activity. But I was able to find a few homes that I want to buy.

But this one attracted pink flamingos of great size.

This lighthouse just just south of St. Augustine. It seemed stoic in its grip on the area.

Then we saw the oldest continually inhabited city in the US! St. Augustine FL was founded in 1565 and named after the Catholic saint because it was founded on his feast day.

The bridge of Lions is the bridge in the above and below photos.

It was voted one of top 10 bridges in the US. It has been called “the most beautiful bridge in Dixie” and it is part of the US National Register of Historic places! Flagler (who built the FL rail system and started Standard Oil) commissioned this bridge builder to make this bridge more attractive. And it is! Of course there is a lot to see here in St Augustine. This is the fort – Castillo de San Marcos.

Once we got our slips the guys wanted to drop their tenders.

Jessica (Michelle & Jeff’s 21 yr old daughter) arrived so we took the dinghy’s to Beaches for a happy hour cocktail. I had a vanilla piña colada it was really delicious! Then Nick and I found Kingfish Bar and grill and enjoyed a cocktail there too!

We found out tonight that Jessica has never seen Back to the Future. I shutter to think many people her age may suffer the same fate. How can we fix this? Next she’ll tell me she’s never seen Jaws or The Big Chill.

Tomorrow we will be tourist in St Augustine!

Teri is a retired CFO and Nick is a partner in a private equity firm. We are both very irrelevant in the business worlds. We jumped up to a 52 foot boat because we were in need of more adventure. We are on the Great Loop around the East Coast of North America. It's been a wild ride!
